The Monte Design Motorized Cortina Glider Recliner with Espresso Base takes everything parents love about the Cortina — the extra-deep seat, the extra height, the zip-off washable cushion covers — and adds fully cordless motorized recline at the touch of a button. No handle to pull, no cords to manage: just press the button on the inside armrest and the footrest rises and the back reclines effortlessly. The rechargeable battery charges in 8 hours and delivers approximately 1–2 months of use per charge. Handcrafted by hand in Monte Design's Toronto facility on a rich espresso wood base, and tested in our boutique.
The Cortina Advantage: Washable Covers + Motorized Recline
The Motorized Cortina is the only chair in the Monte lineup that combines both of its most practical features: zip-off machine-washable cushion covers and cordless motorized recline. The seat is deeper (21"), wider (23"), and taller (21" seat height) than the Matera, making it an exceptional choice for taller parents or those who prefer a more generous, enveloping seat. Gliding stops automatically when the footrest rises, then resumes when you return to upright.

CertiPUR certified foam is free of flame retardants. PFAS-free fabrics are Oeko-Tex® and/or REACH certified. The espresso wood base is NAF-certified and sustainably sourced. Greenguard Gold certification — screened against more than 10,000 chemicals and VOCs — ensures cleaner indoor air for a healthier nursery. The Motorized Cortina Espresso is available in ten distinct fabric families, each Oeko-Tex® or REACH certified where noted. Performance Heathered, Felt, Weave, Velvet, Bouclé, and Microfiber are all 100% polyester with stain resistance, water repellency, and a 100,000 rub count. The Faux Sheepskin option adds deeply textured softness at the same 100,000 rub count. For families drawn to natural fibers, the Brushed Cotton-Linen (63% cotton, 37% linen, REACH & Oeko-Tex® certified) and Organic Cotton & Recycled Polyester (45% organic cotton, 55% recycled polyester, Oeko-Tex® certified) bring a softer, more sustainable story. Premium Wool — 70% wool, 25% nylon, 5% recycled fibre, REACH certified — delivers heirloom texture at a 40,000 rub count.
